FYI, anybody who hasn't read the graphic novel prior to watching the film will have their knighthood revoked.
Watchmen is considered by many to be the greatest superhero "comic book". So you should read it just to experience the best that medium has to offer. Just like you should watch Citizen Kane to witness the pinnacle of classic cinema, or Sienfeld to appreciate the ultimate in sit-com. It's what the Sistine chapel ceiling is to painting, the Guggenheim is to architecture, or the source of a Class written by nocturnal is to Flash.
