Win My Big Disc

Knights, as I near the 60 year dynasty achievement in NCAA Football '07 I have begun to think about how I can give back to the community that I have so handily abused. None of you are able to compete with me in this, or ANY Football game, so I am graciously going to grant a lucky Knight an "extended borrow" of my NCAA '07 game disc. All you have to do to win is write an essay titled "Why I deserve NCAA Football '07" and reply as a comment to this post. Good Luck!

As I looked over and have thought about what you said I would like to decline the offer for football but would like to apply for the receiving of a different game that you may or may not be willing to extend the same offer. Let me know if there are possibilities such as these arising for other games that you have.

Thanks

The passion has been there all along. The desire to win. The fire in the belly that propels me to compete.

The fury has been there also. As time after time my efforts have been in vain. And at the conclusion of the contest, I am left with the bitterness of defeat. Like ashes in my mouth.

But once have I ascended to the summit. But once have I felt the warmth of victory wash over me, like the sun rising after a bitterly cold night.

I will never give up the fight to feel that again. I only lack the tools to train properly. To make the contest one that is balanced. And only then, when again we meet in battle will true victory be won. Whether for you, or for me it makes no difference. We will have fought a good fight. Knowing that our adversary was worthy to be in the same ring. That the better man had indeed won.

"thru the turmoil of ages
midst the pomp and toils of war
have I fought
and strove
and perished
countless times
among the stars

as thru a glass and darkly*
the age-old strife I see
where I fought in many guises
many names
but always me"

Because I understand.

On a perfect autumn morning there is a smoky chill in the air. The scents, the sounds, the anticipation, recall holidays wrapped in the wide-eyed memories of childhood.

The energy is building. Surging through windows of homes and vehicles. Radio waves, and tv signals relay the dreams of thousands. Flags are raised. Favorite sweatshirts are donned as sacred as sacramental robes.

Today is game day.

We meet in throngs. Arrayed in roman splendor upon the steps of our coliseum. Fathers and sons. Friends and brothers. Rivals.

Our voices rise of their own accord. Swept up in a wave, bringing the tide of warriors rushing onto the field of battle. Armor glinting in the sun.

And we live, and die, and bleed with them. We will them to victory. We are crushed with them in defeat.

It's not escapism. It's not fantasy. It's our other existence.

We pledge ourselves to a holy crusade. And whether we are dashed against the walls of the shining city, or whether our siege is successful and we enter into the promised land, we know one thing for certain.

We will be back again next year.

"Why I deserve NCAA Football '07"

The purpose of this short, yet concise and remarkably effective essay is to convince whomever it may concern of my intentions concerning NCAA Football 2007.

My reasons for deserving the "extended borrow" will prove to demonstrate beyond any reasonable doubt how much I deserve this opportunity.

Although Jared Goodey may have tried ascending "to the summit" time after time, it is painfully obvious to anyone but him that his time for football pwnage has long since passed. His fingers have grown too large for the quick, nimble maneuvers that the game requires in order to navigate Jo. Beck and the stripling warriors to a top ten ranking in their first dynasty season. Surely Jared would struggle even replicating the mediocre season the cougars had in 2005, much less masterfully perform up to the expectations of the 2006 season and beyond.

Simply put, I am a far better competitor. I may not have as of yet tasted victory, but I came extremely close to making B1uEyeDevil blame the results of the game on fourth down conversion attempts and failed fake punts after only one attempt. In fact, if one were to count the controversial game in which we first faced off, I was far ahead in the third quarter and excuses were already flowing faster than diet Dr. Pepper.

So in conclusion, if you allow someone like Jared to take your game, it will be like trying to teach your wife to play Halo--it won't do you any good. No matter how hard he tries or practices, he'll still be beaten 99 out of 100 games . . . especially because you can't stick someone with a grenade from behind in football.

If you want to experience a true challenge, lend me the game for three weeks and then we'll see who deserves the crown.

"90 percent of the game is half mental."
